Been plaing ID games since Keen1. Good to see them start their first new property (non-sequel) since Quake 1.

Good luck to them, Carmack is still a code genius.

BTW...did anyone notice that John Carmack has the same initials as Jesus Christ?

I'd rather have a relationship with Carmack. :D

(In a non sexual sense, of course)

I think it would be funny if when HL2 finally ships sometime around 2006, it's based on the Doom3 engine.

While the graphical capabilities of the DOOM3 engine are impressive, I don't like the physics/movement so much. Thus I am not that excited about the prospect of other games that license the engine.

Sure some may say the physics are easy enough to change, but if you look at all the games that were based on the quake engine one can tell they all have striking similarities in the smoothness of movement, etc.

Only time will tell, I guess.

I'm really glad that id decided to create something new.
I mean, Doom3 was not even great. It was trapped in those old days of "Only use 3 colors, find a way to unlock the door, and kill everything that moves" scheme.
Well, I guess that's why it was Doom3 after all.
Anway, I guess they'll finally be over with what's been trapping 'em.
