We all know the narrative. Democratic run cities and blue states are a haven for gun violence. I decided to do some homework and put out dome facts on gun homicides. Just note gun homicide only statistics are hard to find so I listed gun deaths. However, the rankings from deaths to homicides run very close to identical.

For the year 2021. I will list a popular red states blue states, red city, blue city. I will also compare it to another city in North America.

Gun deaths per 100,000 for 2021.

New York City 5.4 (blue city)
Jacksonville, FL 11.7 (red city largest in the country)
Toronto Canada .64

New York State 5.4 (blue)
Florida 14.4 (red)
Alaska 25.2 (red)
Hawaii 4.8 (blue)
California 9 (blue)
Massachusetts 3.4 (blue)

Bottom line is people are fed an absolute lie by Fox News and other eight wing media about guns/crimes and deaths. Is Chicago bad? Yes however crime isn't unique to Chicago which is all you hear. Alaska which is an entirely red state is one of the worst in the country for gun and overall crime and there is no blue city there to skew the numbers.

Canada considers Toronto to have unacceptable levels of gun crime just as comparison. Mississippi having around 50 times the gun deaths per capita is staggering.

We basically know the risk factors for gun crime, and I don’t see Democrats promoting those risk factors as good things. I do think democrats spend too much time worrying about specific types of guns but the elevated gun deaths do not correlate by voting habits all that well, and if anything skew red a bit when you don’t selectively pick very large cities.
