lieing to protect a friend that in a gang

I just had an intersting conversation with one of my friends. She was telling me she would lie in court to protect one of her friends that in a gang from going to prision. It like why would you do that? why would you lie to protect someone elses ass when it was their decesion to throw their life away in a gang doing whatever stupid destructive, or whatever they do. In the end, it could come back up and biting you in the ass, and ending up screwing your life over.

i would never lie for my friends to protect them from going to jail. if they want to fuck up their own life that their problem.. I'm not gonna end up screwing up my life to protect their ass. If they want to ruin their life, that their problem. leave me out of it.
 
I wouldn't volunteer a testimony, but if I was served a subpoena for a court appearance, I would never lie.
 
The only people I would perjure myself for would be my Mom, my wife, and my kids. Everyone else can rot.

For me, it would depend what the crime was. If they are accused of killing someone, and I have knowledge that they did it, I would come forward and testify.

If they were accused of smoking the evil demon weed, I would keep my mouth shut unless subpoenaed.
 
Not only would I not lie for someone who's in a gang, if I found out that they were, ,I'd probably drop the dime myself.

Wouldn't getting a friend into a safe jail and out of the street gang crime actually be the best way to protect them? Of course, putting a gang member into jail might not be the best way to protect yourself though.
