Ok, well I got the renewal letter about three weeks ago, and me being the lazy guy I am, didn't send it in.

I have the form here and am hesitant to send it in, because the DMV probably won't get me the renewed license in time. I don't want to be driving with an expired license.

I'm wondering about what I should do, and would like to know if anyone else has been in a similar situation.

I just made my appointment, and will most likely go to take care of it in person, but I don't want to have to go in and take the written test again if there's a much more viable solultion.

It's a California license btw.

The DMV website has nothing, and I can never get through to their phone lines to speak to someone.

Why do you need to make an appointment. Most states (maybe CA is different) just require you to go to a MVA office and pay your $$$. Possibly take a eye test.

Only exception would be if your license has a problem with it or maybe you are under age.

IF the above sentance is false, you will just have to waste time at the MVA office in line to get your license renewed. Trying to do it after it has expired will cause problem no matter what. At a minimum a test would probably be required.

3 weeks is all they gave you??!?! my renewal notice came in mid-may, and my b-day isnt until mid-july. i filled it out a.s.a.p., and got my license 2 weeks later. of course, my reason for doing it so quickly was because i wanted a license with my picture on the left side instead of the right side. bartenders and door people kept putting my license to the extreme tests (ie: flicking it, holding it up to the light, checking hologram). all that costs me a few more seconds of drinking booze time. :D:beer:
