Every now and then one encounters libertarians actually showing some consistency (usually they seem as opportunist as their mirror-image in the religious right).

This is what happens when Trump is speaking in front of a crowd that was neither paid to be there nor follows him around like the world’s saddest Grateful Dead tour. Wrapping up his speech to the libertarians. He tried to kick them out of their own convention, showed up an hour late, tried to give the exact same speech he always gives to "The Cult", got booed mercilessly, told the audience they must enjoy being losers, and then bailed. You get him out of his insulated bubble and then you see how unpopular he is and how stupid he looks and sounds. I cannot fathom what idiot decided it would be a good idea to invite Trump to a Libertarian convention. I guess it might be true that a fair number of libertarians truly are just Republicans who want to smoke weed.
I am guessing that there are some Republicans who hear this bullshit who are getting unnerved; the prosecutors at Ulbricht’s trial introduced evidence indicating he had attempted to solicit the murders of at least five different people who he believed were going to snitch on the Silk Road.
I would love a reporter to ask Trump to explain what the Silk Road case was about; I am sure he has no idea who the fuck Ross “Dread Pirate Roberts” Ulbricht even is.
I Can hear him now: - “Dread Pirate Roberts. What a wonderful man. No survivors, he would say, no survivors, that’s why they dread him, and he’s being treated very unfairly by Crooked Prince Humperdinck’s weaponized government. Some fucking advisor told him to say he would free Ulbricht because they thought it would get an applause from libertarians. He was literally told to say this. Trumps ONLY superpower is a willingness to just tell people what they want to hear, without regard for the truth.
I have to say it’s been interesting watching the Republicans raise “brain melting cognitive dissonance” into an actual communication strategy.
