I'm sorry, but you cannot argue "X is so bad, anything must be better", when there is any number of examples of things being worse than X.

Also, why not propose a more direct democracy instead?

An oligarchy of the rich is just going back to a hereditary system of despotism. It either goes the way of the monarchy, or the way of real socialism, differing by which way the next generation of rulers is chosen.

A regulatory democracy makes politicians market actors, for the market of seats. Sadly a black market for kick-backs has also been established. That's what's distorting the political market, and make legislators act against their supposed best interest.
