My aunt was a Lutheran missionary working as a nurse at Phebe Hospital in Liberia for 22years. She came back in 1990 just before war broke out in the country. Since then our entire family has volunteered hundreds of hours of time packing boxes of medical supplies, clothing ect.. Just this year we sent many tons of boxes to be shipped to Phebe hospital. This hospital has been a neutral facility where both sides could get medical help, but recently the rebel forces have over taken the hospital and it had to be evacuated. The medical director, Dr. Walter Gwenigali whom has visited my house many times has had to leave the country.
Personally I do not support US forces to interfere with this war, as it is a civil war and should be fought by the people of the country. My aunt on the other hand does support US troops to enter the country. Her reasoning is obviously personal connections due to the fact that she knows hundreds of individual Liberians many who have been injured and many who will die in the future
