can anyone vouch for the airflow of the lian li pc-7b plus II? Any other cheap lian li's that top its airflow capabilities? How does it compare to the Cooler master centurion, cooler master cavalier and antec slk300? (I realize that there is a $40-60 price disparity between these but I'm trying to figure out if its worth going with lian li, if I don't have a huge budget) Thanks in advance.

it will be much better than the cooler master centurion case which only has an 80mm fan in the front and is also blocked off by the usb ports. my friend's WD caviar 160gb sata hard drive overheats to 55-60C on a spring day in upstate new york while his cpu idles at 35c... 80mm fans = no good. stick with lian li, their quality is unmatched

This PC-7B is the one that I've been recommending as best design in heat dissipation and air flow capabilities. I have 1 and two PC-60s.
If one was to add 2 more 120mm fans, one as intake on side vent and install a top exhaust vent, you got the best air flow configuration ever.
I doubt any other case would better the cooling setup than this PC-7B.
Since the two 120mm fans are standard, I would make a single change. Use Yate Loon 120mm for all 4. http://www.jab-tech.com/product.php?productid=3009

This will give you the best case for cooling and quietness out there. Next comes your choice for PSU, I presume you want quiet.

It your choice now......

Yeah, the seasonic was one of my options, I was all but decided on this psu...great value for $80 shipped. Many recommendations around AT forums, seasonic is decidedly quality, meaning, htere isn't a whole lot of bargain that they have to offer, yes, It may save me the trouble of having to buy another PSU due to failure, but the enhance has gotten sparkling reviews, and the seasonic s12 500w is $130 and the 430w has just 14amps and 15amps on each of the 12v rails, respectively. The enermax liberty was another one of my considerations, and the 400w should have enough juice to power an oced 3200+ and an oced x1800xt. But lets not turn this into a psu thread. Alright, I am almost definetly going with the pc-7b plus II and I'll mod it to include a side and top air intake. Probably throw a mitron fan controller in one of the 3.5" bays to control the yate loons<------very cheap priced. Thanks louisssss and pkme2 for your input.

I had a Lian-Li PC-60 Plus and found that mid-towers are generally a compromise regarding airflow. The PC-7 with dual 120mm fans is probably as good as it gets without DIY mods. I upgraded to a Cooler Master 810 full-tower which has airflow capabilities beyond most mid-towers, but it is a very large case and costs about $150.

The Cavalier is nothing more than a Centurian with a cheap plastic door. The Centurian 532 or 534 would be better choices as both have a 120mm intake fan. The Antec SLK3000B comes with one 120mm and you can put another up front. Should work nearly as well as the PC-7 in regards to cooling, and with the rubber drive grommets, a quieter PC. However, I can't say much positive about the look of the Antec.

I have a Centurion 532 and the 534 is an identical chassis with a different front pannel and it cools great. I have a pair of AF12's in the stock locations, an af12 on a Tt iCage in the botton three 5.25" bays and a pair of Panaflo m1a's on the side and it cools my file/media server excelently. I haven't yet removed the fan grills as they really don't make much noise but, I'm sure I will, eventually.
