Hi folks,
So I found a used Lian-Li PC60 case for about $50 shipped. Seems like a very nice deal. But on the other hand, this case looks like Lian-Li my friend bought about 7 years ago for his thunderbird system.

So after 7 years (possibly? maybe I'm mistaken), is the PC60 showing its age? Or is it still as nice of a case now as it was then? That is, am I better off with something like an Antec P180 or Sonata II, which seem to be popular choices now?

I'm looking to spend no more than $100 on the case here (not including PSU). This will be for a core2duo system with 8800 graphics.

Thanks,
-Eric

I own five PC-6x cases. A couple PC-60s, a PC-61, and a couple PC-65s. They're basically all the same. In my opinion they're just as good today as they were seven years ago. You could go the Lian Li V1000 or 2000 series. They're very nice but pretty pricey. And I personally don't like the Antec P180 or the Sonata II (i don't like cases with doors). I would say that the Lian Li PC-60 would suit you just as fine as any other case. And because so many were made and they're all pretty similar, parts are still easy to find, and they're all interchangeable. The newer Lians have a lot of cool features, like the way drives are mounted, etc. So you just have to weigh your options. I say, use the PC60 that you already own and got for a great price.

Make sure to check out this site: http://www.silverpcs.com

They sell any lian li part under the sun. Anything from entire cases to simple thumbscrews.

If you don't end up using that PC60, I'll buy it from you :)

My 2 cents.

Good luck!

my suggestion would be to go for the $50 case.. since its 7 years old try to talk it down to $35-40ish to make it even a better deal. case's retain their value very well, probably better than all the other PC components... still a good deal at $50 btw as long as theres nothing major wrong with it

Yeah I went ahead and bought it at $50. Has 4 fans (2 front, 1 back, 1 top), the original fan controller, and the filter. Seller says the case is in good shape, non-smoker, etc.

I'm quite pleased... thanks for the replies guys :)

LOUISSSSS: I have no idea... if you google for the PC60, there are some reviews that may have pictures/descriptions, b/c I think the fan control is standard equipment.

my pc-60 is aging gracefully, it has seen at least 5 generations of mobo/cpu sets :)
I changed all the stock 80mm fans with panaflo L1 and add another 80mm hole & fan in the rear. I don't think I'll ever sell it, unless someone is offering their used V1200 for less than $50 :D
