Lian Li PC-V1000B experiences?

So I finally decided to shell the major bucks needed for a good case. I think the Lian Li is it, but from the pictures, I'm worried about dust; due to the holes in the case. I hate dust, am allergic to them and can't stand cleaning them every couple of months.

Does anyone have the Lian Li PC-v1000b case and any experiences concerning dust? Also, is it possible to get a side window for this case (pre-fabbed)? Side window is necessary only to see if case needs dust cleaning.

I am also considering the ThermalTake Tsunami. Please save the TT bashing, I know that are over-hyped and ripoffs from other designs; but the Tsunami is an upgraded Wavemaster and uses 120mm fans!

Thanks.

Hello there,

I thought about the LianLi V-series myself; specifially, the V2000B. I didn't get it for a number of reasons.

1. The price (I know you get what you pay for, but $280?)
2. The dust (the front air filter is eye candy...all those holes mean dust everywhere)
3. The PS area looks cramped (I have a PC65 and you cannot fit a PS w/a bottom fan w/o removing the grill

Anyway. Please see this thread here and look towards the bottom. Click on the links for the Yeong Yang YY-W201 case; that's what I will have by Thursday (UPS has it on it's way to me now).

Now, YMMV, but the 201 is the case for me. I like functional over looks anyday. Also, it's 1/2 the price...even with the optional drive cage that takes 3 (out of the 8!) 5.25" bays and turns those 3 bays into a HD cage that holds 5 HDs, it was only $179 shipped! Shipping was $30, so it really was only $150. Take a look at the reviews linked to in that thread.

Good luck. 🙂

Edited for typo on case #

I've had my PC-V2000 up and running for a few weeks now and haven't noticed huge dust issues, but this case is likely to get a more dusty interior than others due to its design. It has an amazing build quality though. The PS area is actually very roomy on the 2000. It does require a bit of finagling to get the PSU attached to the back panel, but once it's in, you're golden given the large amount of space. But the 1000 series is more cramped there. There is no factory side window available for these yet, but Lian Li is sure to eventually provide one. But, no matter what case you get, you will have to deal with dust. Some cases are just better than others at routing the dust to filters🙂

Michael,

Thanks for the info, same for you sparky. Man, now it looks like I'm having second thoughts on the Lian Li. Problem is that I want a case with 2 120MM fans to cut down on noise, and there are not that many cases out there with 2 120mm fans. The quest continues....

Somewhat off topic, the V2000s cost $248/$256 at Directron.com for silver or black color respectively. Best price ive found on these cases.

Dust is a disgusting part of having a computer, there's no truly cost effective way around it for most of us. But you can cut it down markedly by simply keeping to surrounding area as clean as possible and by moving your box as far from the floor as feasible. Being that 90+% of dust is composed of discarded skin cells, just us being close to are boxes is the real problem.

I build a system for my friend with the Antec p160WF, and is not too crazy about it. The front bezel is just made too cheaply, plastic is NOT fantastic! Unfortunately, the V2000's are too big for my needs. I heard that the V1000 has problems with the MSI Neo Platnium (754) MB and it's front panel connectors, so I doubt the V2000 would be any better. I'll check out the Silverstone. THanks again for all your help.

Here's a weird question. Can someone get me the ingram micro number for the Lian-Li Silver ATX Mid Tower Case, Model "PC-V1000" or know where i can get it. I cant find the thread on ingram micro numbers anymore. Any help would be appreciated.
