Lian-Li PC-V1000 Aluminium Tower

who here thinks that power supplies should be located at the bottom of the computer like in the Lian-Li PC-V1000 Aluminium tower? pros cons? etc? I think it should become standard it would be less messy, computer power cords would be located nearer to the power breaker, the only "bad" thing could be the fact that heat rises.. or the fact that some psu's have top fans that wires could fall into if not properly guarded? but those problems seem easily fixable, Oh yeah, picture a side intake fan, and the rear exhaust fan for a power supply kinda like an L shape, could be a thought for higher end cases with large PSU's that run hot 😀

Lian-Li addresses the cable issue in the V1000, V1100, V2000 and V2100. They also address the potential heat issue too. Some people have wondered about the ATX line being long enough for those cases. With the mobo inverted in them, it takes no more length than other cases to connect the mobo and PSU. In my rig, I have several inches of cable left to spare for connecting up the PSU to mobo.

Akira34 what are you using for a fan controller? Did you just attach the fan leads to your Antec Neo power supply and let it control the fan speeds in your case? Also is it pretty easy to clean the front filter? Also
what motherboard standoffs did the Lian case come supplied with... the brass or the clips? I prefer the brass as I didn't care for the large Asus Elan T-10 case clips in my previous build.

After all the research into cases I've found the lian 1100 to be a pretty good deal. I've also thought
about the Coolcase---Compucase LX-6A19 with all the mods. But after you add the acoustipak you have about 200$ in your case also. Air flow ought to be good for this modded LX-6A19 case however. Probably better than the 1100 Lian. And noise ought to be pretty low with the Panflo fans installed and their pot mod. The internals are also suppose to be the same as the Antec 3700 case.

So any owners of the modded Coolcase LX-6A19 out there? I'd like to hear if your satisfied with your purchase and would you do it again? Or should I head straight to the Lian 1100?

I'm not controlling the fans on the PSU, I'm letting it control itself. For the case fans, the front comes with the standard 4 pin Molex to the PSU, and I'm trying the rear case fan on the same feed. I'll be installing my XP-120 shortly, and might put the rear fan back onto the mobo.

It comes with the hex standoffs (that you screw into the tray) as well as a tool to help install them.

The V1100 is an EXCELLENT case. The loudest fan inside my case is the Panaflo H1 on the 948U cooler. That's why I'm installing the XP-120 with the Enermax fan (more CFM, less db even at full spin).

If you're thinking about the Lian-Li V1100 case, get it. I did and have NOT been disappointed in it.

Akira34... so it looks like your running both fans at 12v. In the Lian 1100 with all the dampening the noise level is quiet enough so it is probably alright to run at the full 12v front and back. The guys at coolcases recommend running 12-9v in the front and 7v in the back for positive case pressure. Having positive case pressure they claim cuts down on dust. Just tapping into the lead between the 12v and 5v ought to give you 7v or adding a resistor to the 12v line. That way no vantec fan controller is needed....not sure if the Lian 1100 has room for a fan controller anyway with the door in front.

I already have my Thermalright XP-90 heatsink. I just waiting on the DFI Nforce4 ultra, 939 pin, Sata II motherboards to come out. I will go non SLI. Even at the DFI lanparty site they really don't recommend SLI for a 15-25% gain and the big increase in heat not to mention all the other problems. So I will just pick up a 6600 or 6800 pci express card. Possibly a Leadtek again because the stock cooling is a little better than the others.

Ahh, that case is my 'dream' case, right now i have a chenbro Xpider, its sweet for budget builds that want a few ego massaging high end features.

my dream case is the G5, compared to it the v1000 just seems like a cheap copy. though it is the next best thing to it on the pc. i wonder if it's possible to mod the G5 to use ATX...oh man...

That's just plain WRONG on so many levels. Not to mention it's a hack-job to the case.

Vantec will be coming out with a case 'soon' that looks promising. Just have to wonder how long before it actually hits channels...
