Lian Li PC-Q11 or Silverstone SG05?

Sick of having a full size PC.

SG05
PC-Q11

I like the Silverstone because it's smaller (Amazon's product dimensions are wrong).

The extra $25 up front doesn't bother me, but the PC-Q11 uses standard ATX power supplies and 5.25" optical, which will save me money up front (can reuse from my old rig) and down the line (in the event of a failure they'd be cheaper to replace.)

Additioanlly, the SG05 uses a full shroud which is apparently a bit of a hassle to remove/replace, and some internet commenters (although not reviewers) knock the build quality. (Thin steel, that kind of thing.)

But it's SOOOOOO TIIINYYYYY!!!

If anybody has direct experience with either, or both, what are the noise levels like on the Silverstone's included PSU? Any other thoughts? Is the PC-Q11 small enough?

In terms of heat, etc., kit will probably be a i5-3470, 7850, Optical, SSD, & 2.5" HDD (unless I am persuaded otherwise.)

Thanks.

I haven't built a mITX yet, but my main build is in a Silverstone TJ08-e (mATX case). The build quality, noise levels, and cooling are excellent with my Silverstone, but I have heard good things about Lian Li as well.

I have both cases at home, and wouldn't hesitate to use either. The Lian Li looks "nicer" but you can get a similar look with the Silverstone SG06, which is the SG05 with an aluminum face. Included PSU is reasonably quiet - if you use a higher end graphics card, it will be noisier than the PSU. The one-piece cover is not a big deal to remove/install. I actually have TWO of the SG05 (one original, one latest SG05BB-450-USB3.0) and both were fine. Steel doesn't feel that flimsy.

PC-Q11 will be a lot bigger visually since it is tall, but it will have a shorter depth

SG05/SG06 can fit bigger graphics cards than PC-Q11 by near an inch.

PC-Q11 is kind of a PITA to open side cover with all the tiny screws holding it on.

PC-Q11 holds more drives. Need to use a shorter PSU.

I'd say if you don't need the extra drive bays, go with the SG05 or an SG06 for nicer looks. With SFF, go small or go home. 😛
