Hi All,

First post. Great board.

I'm building a new box using the Lian-Li case. There are 2 USB, 1 Firewire, and mic & headphone external jacks on the top of the case. There are 3 cables from the back of the external jacks that each terminate in a 9 pin mobo connector. Each connector also has multiple small connectors spliced onto it. Am I guessing correctly that one goes to a USB, one to the Firewire, and the last to a sound card? If so, what are all those smaller connectors for?

The Lian-Li website has a diagram that is mostly greek to me.

I want to get this baby up and running and not tear it apart for at least a few days...

ASUS P5W DH (awsome package-hope it doesnt burn up)
C2D E6700
Arctic Cool Freezer 7 Pro
2 GB Corsair 5400c4
Antec TP3-650RT PS Trio
3 WD2500KS 250 MB HD's in a Raid 5 off the ICH7R Controller
Lite-on SHW160P DVD Burner
Saphire X800GTO2 (I don't game much, mostly GIS)

Thanks

basicly to allow easier access to usb type devices(thumb drive, x360 controller), or headphone easy hookup instead of going to your system if it has that kind of output. your motherboard should have enough connections to hook up these items.

Truenofan,

This mobo has 2 internal USB and 1 internal Firewire. I've decided to sacrifice the rear Firewire and 2 USB ports in favor of the one on top. I'm just still not 100% sure on the case cable issues. Why splice in all the little connectors?
