i bought a pc-65 awhile back, but i just now put the system together and the power led (the blue one) seems really dim...i can barely even tell it's on. is this normal? the hd led seems way brighter...i checked the connections, and everything is correct. did my led just burn out or something? is replacing the led an easy task?

I've seen a few posts here of some saying it's bright and some saying it's dim.

Sounds like either the blue LED is bad or maybe the header on the motherboard is dead.

At the motherboard, try to swap the LED connectors for the IDE and power leads to see if there is any difference in LED intensity.

Yeah, I had the same problem. Spread the word: plug the power LED into the mobo's turbo LED header. As long as you have turbo enabled, it'll be as bright as your HD LED.

looks like the header on my mb is out...anyone know if there's anything i can do about it? it's a msi k7t266 pro2-ru.
Akira13, i can't find the turbo led header...is every mb supposed to have it?

I have to go try this...I hope you're right.

Edit: I tried this but instead of getting a brighter led i got nothing. There seems to be no power to the led at all when its in the tubo header.

Try the hard drive header instead.

On my pc65, the blue and the red LEDs are the same intensity. Both are very bright. Maybe different motherboard headers have different voltages for each LED? Im running an ASUS p4b266 if that helps.

thanks for the replies...i hooked up a different mb to the case, and both leds were really bright, so i think the new mb i bought is jacked up (not the case)...so i'm send the board back and getting a new one.

Did you turn on Turbo?

I run my Epox 8KHA+ in turbo mode, so that's why it works for me. Also, make sure you get the polarity right (although if you're trying this, then you probably know about polarity already). You can turn on turbo mode in the BIOS if your mobo supports it (in my case, turbo is just a bus setting macro, I think). Does anyone remember the days of 486 (mine was a whopping 25Mhz with 2mb RAM and 125mb HD). I had a button on my case labeled "turbo." When I turned it off, it really slowed down Win3.1. Those were the days...
