Lian Li PC-6070

For a quiet PC? No, not even to be considered. 80mm fans, aluminum (vibrations) and that foam on the side panel? You need foam all over to make a difference. My case has foam over ever inner surface of the case. It even has foam blocks stuck in the unused drive spaces.

Obviously someone who has never used a 6070.

I had one, and it was very quiet. Sold it on these forums for $80 shipped. You missed out. 🙂

You might want to check out the new V1100. It's an updated version of the 6070. It does cost more, but as far as I'm concerned, they fixed the minor problems I had with the 6070. Those being the optical and floppy driver covers (included), changing to (2) 120mm fans, a shroud on the back of the exhaust fan, and adding texture to the door.

The 6070 has the sound mat on both doors, and the top of the case.

I'm telling you, for quietness, there are better cases to buy.

According to Anandtech, it's pretty much the quietest case they have tested, so which cases would be better? I have tried this one, the Antec SLK3700-BQE and the Sonata, and found the Lian-Li not only to be a better quality build, have better cooling, but also be quieter.

How's the sonata stack up?

I really liked the 6070 better, the case felt like it was built a little more solid, and it was definitely quiter. The cooling with Sonata and only the 120mm exhaust fan isn't that great, or at least I found ot to be rather poor using my A64 3200+ w/Zalman CNPS7000A-Cu/74GB Raptor/160G Hitachi/9800 Pro.

I have an Acousticase 6607. It's padded all the way around inside, with blocks of foam in the spare drive cages, and sorbothane padding on the bottom to eliminate HD vibration.

I do like the look of the black Lian Li, but it wasn't available a few months ago when I got a new case.

Why would you listen to what AT has to say about quiet? It's not his forte. Head to SPCR forums for good advice.

I think I'm going to have get a Reserator. Must... be... quieter...

I have the sonata and I just assembled a new PC using the 6070 last night.

the 6070 IS QUIETER.............................than most. the front door does a nice job of shielding some sounds. do not think this is some whisper quiet case though. if your main concern is quietness goto http://silentpcreview.com/ and read.
the 6070 quality was excellent though.

BTW I feel the sonata sucks.
