I'm looking at purchasing a new case, and I really like the Lian-Li PC-61/ 65s. I want a window in my case, but i'm not a fan of the rivets used by Lian-Li. My question is, as a relative n00b to modding, how easy is it to install a window in the Lian-Li, and are there any relatively easy to follow guides out there? The last thing i want to do is screw up a $120 case. I have attempted one preious mod, but that was a less than successful adventure. I tried cutting a blow hole in my POS steel case with a dremmel, but it came out more resembling an octagon, and the fan doesn't quite sit right (still works though). A little more successful than a shotgun mod, but not much.
Also, where could i get either case (in Black). I've seen them both at Cooler Guys, but I want to shop around. Newegg used to have them, but now their Lian-Li stock has fallen dramatically in the last month or two, what happened? Is Lian-Li revamping their whole product line?
Incedentally, if anyone wants to reccomend a different case, i'm open to suggestions, i've looked at alot of cases, and decided the Lian-Li's would be best, but I could have missed something. My requirements are basically:
Black
window (willing to mod if i can find an easy to follow, virtually fail safe guide)
upper limit of ~$150 (the PC-70s would be my number 1 choice, but they're too expensive)
will hold, in the interim, my
Athlon XP 1800+
Asus A7M
2 optical drives (beige covers, but they won't be staying in the case, i'll get black ones next time)
floppy drive
3 WD SE hard drives (here's where the Lian-Li and its 5 internal drive bays comes in)
however, i plan to keep this case for my future computers, for which i'll probably have the following:
DVD/CD-RW (one drive, either DVD-RW, or DVD/CD-RW, or something)
Fanbus
perhaps an audigy II, or
perhaps one of those Matrix Orbital displays (what can i say, I'm a wanna be modder)
Floppy
Zip Drive (perhaps)
at least 4 hard drives (i'll prolly want a Raptor RAID array at some point, and another RAID array for storage)
