Lian Li Mesh -vs- Dust Filter

What is the function of the mesh over the lian li fan? The only thing I can think of is as a poor dust filter. I'd like to setup the fans in my system as filtered positive pressure. (The primary cooling will be liquid.)

Throw this mesh out and install a real dust filter?

Yep, you guessed it right... 🙂

I usually rip the mesh off and place a less restrictive wire grill onto the fan in the lain-li cases with that kind of exhaust. It increases airflow alot without affecting noise since theres less restriction on the air.
