I was heavily considering the Lian-Li Lancool PC-K7B because it is cheap (<$100), smaller than most mid-ATX cases, ease of use (motherboard tray!) and looks nice (aluminum exterior).

But after reading this mini-review: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=234988, it made me consider more whether the quality was actually there are not since the author since to think that it vibrates a lot and does not deaden sound very well. What are your guy's opinion on this case?

And also would you guys know whether I would be able to fit a HD5770 card in it?

g3ck0, welcome to Anandtech Forums.

It isn't all that bad. In fact I'm still using it, and plan to continue using it for my next upgrade (coming up soon).

Understand that I was coming from an Antec Solo case, which is built like a tank and even has sound deadening material attached to the inside of the side panels. This Lancool just felt very flimsy in comparison. Once everything was screwed together it has not buzzed.

It is a bit noisier than the Solo, but that is for the same reason - cases built like tanks will naturally deaden sound, plus the sound deadening materials... you get the idea, right?

The Lancool is flimsier and noisier compared to the Antec Solo.

If comparing with any normal budget case, it isn't any worse and in many ways better (better airflow, better looks, best toolless optical drive mechanism I've ever encountered, better HDD mounts, room for big graphics cards).

If I had to do it over again... yes, I would purchase it again.

Do you have any more specific questions on the case?

i was gonna say, it's unfair to compare an all aluminum case to something like the antec solo. antec's line is most notable for being built ridiculously heavy in order to deaden sound, as well as the inclusion of sound deadening materials. and in the case of the solo, elastic hdd mounts.

i moved away from it for a similar reason as Zap, but i simply went o the P180. the solo i bought is still in service housing my father's computer.

Nice, a reply from the author :)

You mentioned that the expansion slot metal covers vibrated/buzzed and there was various other vibrations around. I know that would drive me completely crazy! So if you're saying that you actually don't really get any of that, I would probably buy it then :)

When I first handled the case, I tapped it with my fingers in various places and heard the buzzing.

In actual use, the computer is under my desk almost against my leg. I hear no buzzing whatsoever.

If you were to sit the case on TOP of your desk then your results may vary.

fayd, I'm still using the Solo for my server, so mine didn't go to waste either.

I love my K7B for its well rounded performance and features and minimalistic design (ie not some gaudy monstrosity)

considering I have a 5850 in mine, the 5770 will be cake
