LGA775 Air Cooling help

LouPoir

Lifer
I've been struggling with cooling my LGA775 processors for months and have been able to find reasonable cooling.

But I just got my hands on a Pentium D 830 ( stock 3.0 ) that is an overclocking monster. I have it running 3.8 at default vCore but it will hit 80c at full load. Im using a Cooler Master -L91 which is a decent cooler. Worked great for my previous processor. But obviously not for their dual core.

Anyone have any good experince with air cooling that can help me out.

By the way, Im using an Asus P5LD2 board.

Thanks,

Lou

I don't have a 776, i'm still playin' with the old chip.

I know you've seen the stickied reviews at the top of the page. IMHO, The three to chose from are Zalman 9500, Thermalright SI-120 or the XP-90C. In no particular order. A XP-90C is going on the 3.4e w/Delta Triple Blade 92x38 @ 79cfm, it will be on a controller.

Selection depends on how much room your case has and which way you want the wind to blow. The SI-120 is top gear, will fit any current mainboard or chip. I too would reccomend it but you don't need 100+cfm 😀 For a fan i offer up Delta 120x38 @76cfm#EEFB1212LE.
Sidewindercomputers.com is OoS but epowerhousepc.com does have it in stock.

actually they both are the same if you take into account the fact that we are talking about both being with in 1 celcius of each other!!

The Scythe Ninja is the best cooler....again we are also talking about a difference of maybe at the most 2 degrees celcius!!
