LGA 1150 CPU recomendation for home/media server

Just picked that up for $80 locally via Fry's promo code and now I need a CPU to go with it. This box will serve as my Plex media server as well as a basic home server doing file sharing and I'll be running QuickBooks on it as well. It will also serve as an HTPC box for the times I'm in the same room.

I'm thinking an i3 or a lower end i5. Efficiency is high on the priority list. This box will be on 24/7 and I will NOT be overclocking.

I'm also not against buying second hand. If you have something that you think meets my needs, feel free to PM me with what you got and your asking price shipped to CA.

I think a G3250 should handle what you've described.

Then you want something like an i3-4330 or maybe 4370 with the HD4600 graphics.

The best 1150 igp is the Broadwell Iris Pro 6200, only found in the i5-5675C and i7-5775C, those should be out really soon.

i5-4570T or 4460T is only 35W and has HD4600.

That may be what you are looking for.

Those i3's is actually what I was looking at. The i5 is nice but I think that's more than I want to spend for this build.

i3-4330T is also low power at 35W with HD4600 igp.

That is a 35W 4130T with HD4400, which is practically the same as HD4600.
That should do the job and save you a little on the electricity bill over the 54W i3 chips.

Personally I will replace our i5 661 HTPC with a Skylake NUC. i5 something U I assume. 500GB M.2 SSD and its ready for movies, files and streaming for the next 5+ years.

It's just that some of the constant anti-AMD rhetoric seemed a bit inflammatory. Then again, I've dissed them too. (I made a comment about "slow, damn slow, and then there's AMD", in reference to their small-core budget laptops, which tend to be dogs.)

i3-4160 would be a very good choice. It should fit within thermal constraints and it's cheaper than the i3-4130T:

I really like the i3-4160T, which can be had for $85-$90 shipped on eBay. i3-4130T is an older model clocked 200 MHz slower than i3-4160T., and sell for nearly the same price.

No problem. I bought 3 recently for $90 shipped each. There's i3-4170T 3.20GHz released last month, but too early to show up on eBay yet (I'm looking for one).

At 3.10 GHz, it's only 300 MHz negative from standard-power i3-4130, which is most commonly sold but lowest resale-value of all other i3 LGA1150 models.
