lG vx 8100 is a recent phone from Verizon wireless. not much info / reviews on it. I was thinking about getting it. Anybody have this phone? ...and what are your comments?

I was looking at getting this too. Can't decide between this and the Motorola 815(I think that's the #). I compared them at the Verizon store and I think I like the Motorola better but it's a little too big

Yes I was looking at the MOT as well. I have a MOT v60 now. I am leaning towards the 8100.

When was the LG VX8100 released??? I have the LG VX8000 and am thinking about upgrading to this just for the bluetooth. The fact that it's a smaller phone is a definate plus too.

I have the e815 and for me its a much better phone than the 8100. You cant access much of the 8100s memory and there is no playlist feature for mp3s. Those were the only two reasons why i was going to get it. with the e815 you get better battery life, better rf, more usable memory, and better keypad. Also the 815 is much more hackable for full DUN, OBEX, all with a simple seem edit. the 8100 hasnt had much luck with hacking. Overall the 8100 looked like the superior phone on paper, but verizon locked it all up.

yep. i was waiting for both to come out and i was actually anticipating going back to lg. but then i heard about how the phone has mp3 player controls on the front, but the mp3 player isnt even even active in the phone yet and only 2mb's can be dedicated to ringtones and such, im leaning towards the e815. it has eveyrthing suse mentioned and even had a speakerphone you can use with the flip closed. but ill still wait for the samsung sch-a970 then make a decision from there.

that is one of my favorite functions. I can turn on speakerphone, close the phone and use voicecommand to do everything. And the voicesignal software is scary good. Either way you'll get a great phone. Also the styling on teh 8100 doesnt cut it for me.

You can use the speakerphone with the flip closed on the VX8000/8100 too. With your headset plugged into the phone, activate the speakerphone, flip your phone closed, unplug the headset.

I for one am not going to go hacking my phone. That's when you encounter all kinds of problems, then people bitch and moan that they're phone is screwed up, when they're the ones actually breaking it because they don't know what they're doing when they "mod" it.

I have an mp3 player, I don't need my cellphone as my mp3 player. As long as it holds enough mp3s that I can use for ringtones, I'm happy. The camera on the VX8000 is one of the best cameras on a cell phone, and the VX8100 has the same camera.

If you're looking for a durable phone, with an excellent camera, and you aren't into all the hacking and don't need it to hold your entire mp3 collection, the VX8100 is the way to go.

Can you download any mp3 to the 815, or does it have to be something you have to buy from Verizon? I'm not into paying for ring tones at all.

What I don't understand is if the e815 is with Verizon as well, does that mean Verizon changed some of its features? The VX8100 did just come out so where the e815 users seem to be settling a bit, the VX8100 may need a few weeks for really good comparison. But in the end, the paper report for the VX8100 looks great and the potential once things setlle make it very intriguing. I would say hold off a week or two for the VX8100 to be more comofrotable.

Thanks for the info. I currently have a moT v60 so I did not consider the e815. I did look at it. No offense, but I had the perception that it was cheap plastic phone.

I am rough on phones. I constantly drop them and sit on them.

Is the e815 tough enough?
