Lg nexus 4 or galaxy nexus??? Help

I want to buy a smartphone in about 3-4 days. Which is better lg nexus 4 or the galaxy nexus i9250 ? I know that lg will not update their os. But since it's a nexus will it get updates ASAP ??? How much will be the price difference??

Yes, Google will update the LG Nexus.

No one knows what the prices will be. All we can do is wait. If you can't wait 1-2 weeks, though, you may be hosed.

I have the Galaxy Nexus but the N4 is the better phone hands down. And yes, you will get updates from Google. Beyond 4.2, you are also guaranteed to receive 5.0 for it while the jury is still out for the Nexus S and the GNex, 4.2 may be the last update for both phones. Definitely worth the wait, which won't be long.

Edit: Price difference, just guessing, $180. Not sure if GNex will drop from $349. I doubt it since that's a very good price for a new phone. If I were buying, I wouldn't be swayed by the lower price, the guts of the new one are that much better.

No you're not. For all we know, the next Androis OS updates could go up in ".1" increments (i.e. 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, etc) for awhile instead of going straight to 5.0 with Key Lime Pie.

Well...I suggest for you to wait for the actual phone to LAUNCH before any serious comparison can be made.

Its obvious it will be a better phone, but by how much? No one knows. Even the critical item - price - doesn't have a shred of proof to back up the speculation; atleast the other hardware specs are based off of alleged leaks.

No one knows at what price it will launch; I wouldn't believe anyone or anything that says it will launch at 250-300 dollars...that is part of the current rumor boat, but again, no proof. Those rumors are coming off of leaked HW specs saying a 'low end 8 GB model' might be in play.

If you look at the cost of the phone, it isn't the memory that is adding a massive premium. They are making a base amount on each phone that is made. Adding more memory (think iphone5 16gb, 32gb, 64gb) is just a nice differentiator to gain higher margins with something that people can't simply add by themselves.

If you ask me...I'd expect the launch price to be 400-450.

The galaxy nexus is 350, and we already know that it is an inferior phone to the Galaxy S2 in all respects except for screen size and pixel density.
This is partially why google is selling it so cheap (And it IS cheap for a phone that is off contract...ridiculously cheap). If the rumors for the LG Nexus 4 are true by any account, I don't see them pricing it any less than 400.
They definitely won't shoot above 500 dollars, because it hurt them the first time with customer perception of price. But anything less than 350 would be revolutionary and shake up the market overnight. Of course, I'd loveeeee to be wrong

Anyways you should wait and see. I have the same dilemma because I don't see myself really needing all those extra features. I just hope they'll still sell the former once the LG Nexus 4 releases.

The LG Nexus 4 is expected to be announced at the end of the month, but when it is actually available for purchase is an entirely other story. I think it took almost 2 months before the Galaxy Nexus could be purchased after it's announcement last year. God, I'm hoping Google doesn't torment me like that again this year.

While I'm not a fan of the 8GB and 16GB capacities, hopefully this indicates that Google isn't going to price this like a flag ship phone (those tend to be around $650-700). But instead a more aggressive $400 like the Galaxy Nexus eventually came down to in the Play Store.

I don't believe for a moment that Android 4.2 will be the last Galaxy Nexus update. Google asked it's partners to provide updates to their phones for 18 months, so no way they'd stop updating the Galaxy Nexus after just 12 months. The Galaxy Nexus still has more updates to come after Android 4.2. Though I agree Nexus S could be seeing the end of it's life in the near future.

I debated same decision myself but I had to decide right away because my old phone died. I went with a $250 used GNex. I love it, it's a steal for the price, used and new. However debating between the two, Nex4 hands down. The difference in hardware is just too big to justify going for the older one. The old processor and even older GPU are at their limits already and have been surpassed in every possible benchmark.

I'm in no rush to get a a new phone and it compares well to most other phones but even if the other poster is right and it gets a few more updates, I'm not sure it's the phone you want to own a year from now.

As much as I liked my Galaxy Nexus I don't think I'll be getting another Nexus because Google does not seem to have the same idea as I do about how much battery a smartphone should have(Seems like only Moto and Samsung with the Note 2 do). They design these phones so that they will barely last all day if they spend 90% of their time asleep in your pocket. The phones last a few hours tops if you actually use them. Tired of poor battery life. /rant

(That said I'm reasonably sure it will have the best battery life of any Nexus device to date just like each Nexus successor but it won't be dramatic)

did you have the lte version or the hspa version? i'm pretty happy with the ~24h/ 2-4h screen on time i get with the hspa gnex.

Lte gets shit battery life we all know this. Hspa is the way to go for battery life without needing a huge ass battery.

I've gone 20hours on my GS3 with moderate usage (pandora, txt, a few calls etc) on LTE. The idea that LTE = bad battery is crap. Something else is eating your battery up.
