And here it is.

Does the LG do 1:1 pixel mapping? I'm assuming it is 16:10 1920x1200 default display, whereas your TV HD signals would be 16:9 (1280x720 or 1920x1080). So you should be getting black bars at the top/bottom if the aspect ratio is being preserved (720P upscaling or 1:1 pixel mapping on 1080i OTA signal).

If the signal is taking up the whole display it is stretching the image vertically (from 1080 lines to 1200 lines) and giving distortion.

This is exactly the case with LG L246WP-BN 24" LCD.

I found a few posts about this same exact problem with the Benq 24" lcd. It turns out that it is a firmware problem. It can be sent in to Benq and they'll update the firmware but they want the owner to pay for shipping. Or if you live nearby you can take it in for immediate firmware update while you wait.

I just called LG about this AND sent them an email describing the problem and I am awaiting their response. Because the picture looks so fantastic I am going to wait a few days. If I cannot get a timely and satisfactory answer back I just might take the monitor back and get a refund.

Also, in about one hour, I am going to call a few of their local authorized repair centers and run this problem by them to see what they'll have to say.

I'll keep you posted.

Hi,

I missed the follow-up in that thread. So you are saying your LG is stretching 1080P signals from 1920x1080 to 1920x1200 and causing nasty scaling/stretching?

Refresh my memory, is it occuring when you plug in an HD cable box/tuner or is it being fed from your computer?
