Hey all,

My parents have purchased a nice LG L226WTQ monitor for me this year. I am a gamer, some games I play include COD2, COD4, BF2142, UT2004, UT3, and Orange Box. Now, my parents decided to go ahead and give me a gift early this year since they knew I would get very good use out of it. I went ahead and plugged it into my HD2900XT 1GB through a VGA port. The monitor doesn't come with a DVI cable so I'll pick one up later. Once I booted up my PC, changed the resolution to 1680x1050, I went into COD4 to see how good it looked and responded (the monitor is a 3000:1 Contrast Ratio, 2ms Response time... even though Nebraska Furniture Mart swore it was a 5000:1 Contrast Ratio. LOL). So anyways, I start up my own listen server and load up mp_crash. The first thing that I noticed was that there is a really strange "blur" like thing that happens when I turn a corner or move quickly. It's really hard to explain but basically it's like to edges of everything in the map shift to reveal a green, red and blue wallpaper. I know, I'm terrible at explaining this. I tried to get a screen shot of it happening but I couldn't get one quick enough.

If anyone has any idea what I'm talking about or knows why this is happening I would really appreciate it. I'm sort of hoping that it's just a bad panel from the factory or something like that. I wouldn't think that my 1GB HD2900XT couldn't handle a 22" widescreen... LOL

OK, I think it might be texture tearing. That might be the term I was looking for. However, I'm confused... I thought texture tearing was when a odd shaped texture popped out of nowhere. Mine is more like a color tear... if I move my mouse real fast and look at the edges of buildings or objects, red, blue and green colors appear from the edges.

Anyway, I've updated my ATI Drivers to 7.12. I'm currently looking for my monitors driver... I can't seem to find it. It's the LG L226WTQ-BF. It came with a disc but there's no actual driver on it... at least that I could see.

The L226WTQ is known to have issues with its response time accelerator chip. You have an older rev with the problem. You can probably exchange it for a fixed version (dealing with LG directly?) or try changing the panel type the service menu:

More details here (try all panel types listed): http://forums.tweaktown.com/showthread.php?p=245989

xtknight, thank you SO much!

I had to go into the service menu and set the panel to LPL22W 4L. That fixed all of my problems. Again, thank you very much for directing me to that post.

Well hey I'm glad it worked. I'm not sure exactly what that setting does though so try not to get too excited.

It might shift the colors, meaning simply different things ghost. But I guess if you don't see it then you're good. Good luck.
