Decided to go to Circuit City last night and look at monitors. Aside from the guy being clueless and not really wanting to help me, they had a really low stock level... Anyway I digress...

They had an open box LG L204WT monitor for $249 (reg price $324.99). You can get Circuit City's "warranty" on the open box monitor, but not the manufacturers warranty. Anyone here bought an open box / no warranty monitor ? Is it worth saving the $75? Or should I just get a brand new one with the "satisfaction" of LG's warranty on my side? (Anyone have experience with LG's LCD monitor warranty? Someone said they have a 'quick exchange' if you have an issue.)

FYI the "open box" monitor is free of surface blemishes and looks great... but who's to say that they (CC) haven't had it turned on 24/7 for the past 2 years... that would kill the overall possible life of the LCD left for me....

Thanks guys...

Well... cracked down and bought the LG L204WT... nice -- I like it a lot... bought a brand new one though...not the open box.

VERY disappointed to find out that there is only a 3 year warranty on everything EXCEPT the backlight.... the backlight is covered for only ONE year... all the reviews i've seen listed 3 years coverage for all. Heard something about LG "advanced exchange" where they send you a monitor then you send yours back, but nothing like that described in the warranty.

Thanks for everything then guys!
