Visiting 2 Office Depot's today, I saw this monitor at one store. Great looking monitor with a nice picture. Showed original price of $477 with a $250 rebate = $227. I didn't find it on the OD site, so it must be B&M only to those in stock. With a little luck you might still find one. 8ms - 250cd/500 contrast - 6 bit TN panel. I would have bought it if it had been 8-bit color.

Bump for a great price (if you get the rebate). I have the 1981Q and the color, sharpness, and build quality of this monitor mostly make up for the lack of an 8-bit color panel. This monitor is also the single most attractive piece of hardware I have ever come across. Just be careful with the ForteManager software- there seem to be incompatabilities with Nvidia drivers (mouse/computer freezes, screen partially cuts out, etc). Just use the manual buttons in conjunction with Nvidia's color tuning software.

Nice find.

it says so in the specs of both reviews.

This is a great deal for a very nice monitor, but you're gonna get screwed if the rebate doesn't come in.

Here is a LINK to a site that provides the panel types and color levels for many monitors. Someone else had posted this site a while back and I find it very useful to compare monitors. The 8-bit LCD's listed are listed as 16.7m colors.

when I was searching for a monitor I almost bought this one. 6 bit stopped me tho.
Thin bezel and ability to rotate makes it great for multi-panel use. Super thin,
and has a nice sleek look...good deal if the rebate comes.

My local store shows $476.01 if I choose in-store pickup at their website. That's clearance level 1 so that's why you may not find it if you put in your zipcode and select delivery. Change to in-store pickup and try picking different stores. Search for L1980Q.

Out of curiosity, I worked my way through the order process then selected in-store pick-up as you said. I had to place the order again but then it showed up in the store I choose, inventory. It shows $529.99, but the price in the store was $477-$250 rebate=$227. If someone wants it, they could order it via the internet for in-store pick-up, then get the price adjusted when they pick it up.The store tag didn't mention 3 rebates, but thanks for pointing that out. I would guess that the store would provide rebate info at checkout.
