LG G3 eating usb cords

Hey, my Wife's G3 seems to quickly ruin any usb cord that is used with it. It fits in fine for a few weeks, but eventually will no longer stay in the phone. It looks like the two little locking prongs on the end get stuck in the down position.

Is this from the charging port itself, or possibly crappy cables? I've been buying braided one's from amazon... they don't break in my phone but if used with the G3... ruined.

Anyone ever heard of this? Is it possible to 'unstuck' those little nubs? I tried a needle but they seem stuck down permanently.
 
It's probably the USB port in the G3 if they're fine with your phone but break in her's.

Isn't the G3 a removable back model with a replaceable battery? easiest thing to do is get a spare battery and external charger or replace the phone imo.
