LG G3 dialer app

Is there away to get the default dailer app for the G3 to open to favorites every time. If not what is a good free dialer that doesn't require rooting that will do this? Thanks.

Use the Favorite contacts widget on one of your home screens. Direct access to those numbers.

The favorite contacts widget doesn't work like I want. It just opens up that contact and doesn't call them. I did use the direct dial widgets to create a few shortcuts. I then dragged them all into a folder so they didn't take up so much room. It would be nice if I could access it from the lock screen though like a I can the phone app.
