LG G2 Brightness Won't Go Above 50%

I recently got my LG G2 repaired after shattering the front glass by dropping it on the street. The repairer seems to have done a half baked job. After repair, the brightness of the screen is unable to go above 50%. Raising the brightness slider up to 50% raises the real brightness of the screen normally, but past 50% there is no perceptible effect. This is not just me not "seeing" the change when it might still be there. It used to be that the slider was calibrated in such a way that the last 50% had a way bigger effect than the first 50%, so at 50% it's more like the brightness output is 30% (which makes my current problem extra annoying). The brightness is supposed to really take off past 50% and now it refuses to.

Just curious if anyone with technical hardware know-how knows what kind of defect causes a problem like this and whether it's possible to solve it. Thanks.

On a separate note, does anyone know of any stylish flip covers for the G2 that don't cost ridiculous sums of money? I'm not buying the official smart cover. If I had found a decent alternative a lot of this could have be avoided.

Send it back to be refixed, maybe the repairer missed the issue you are having?

The LG G2 must be a fragile phone with it's edge to edge display. I dropped mine onto the sidewalk Sunday (how timely) and it was rendered inoperable. I had a thin urethane cover on it, I'll have to get something more solid. First time I ever dropped my phone from 5 feet onto the pavement, I guess it's to be expected.

otter box, it's a bit bulky but I have dropped the G2 probably 4 or 5 times from around that height twice onto concrete and a few times onto hard wood, no damage at all. Just took it out of the otterbox the other day to check on it and the phone looks like it's brand new still, had it since October.

I have exactly same brightness problem, it only works between 0-50%. Did you manage to solve this brightness mystery?

Interesting to hear, but no. You're the second other person I've found with the problem. I tried quite a few things, between replacing the screen, fastening all the internal connectors and replacing the lower part of the electronics board, but nothing worked. If it's some component that got damaged it must be on the upper motherboard somewhere. I ended up getting another G2.

Sorry to hear that. My local phone service also think that the mainboard is the problem. They also never heard this kind of problem. They still try to solve this thou(free of charge!), because they are interested what cause this behaviour. Luckily I have insurance that covers all the costs and new phone.
