LG G2 - Anyone else have one? Thoughts?

Picked up a LG G2 32GB black cheap today. Brand new got it for $415

A lot intrigues me about this phone. The Snapdragon 800, battery life, physical footprint, rear controls, ois camera and the IPS 400+ pixel screen.

I have used a LG Optimus G before and loved the speed of the LG UI. It's the fastest stock UI experience in my opinion. My biggest complaints with the Optimus G was the camera quality and battery life. This seems to be a big improvement on both with a very nice screen.

I am wondering if I made the right call with the Nexus 5 around the corner. I'm thinking the G2 is probably the better phone overall minus the frequent updates but I've come to the conclusion (recently) that upgrades are not super important as most think. It will get Kit Kate eventually.

The 5.2 inch screen vs the 4.9 of the Nexus 5 is a bonus too, and the 13mp camera will most likely be better. 3000 Mah vs 2300 Mah battery too

Time will tell.

My thinking is I could probably switch eventually if I wanted.

I was on the fence with these two phones as well, I went with the LG G2 for the better battery life and larger screen as well as 24bit/192Khz audio support.

The updates of the nexus 5 will likely be faster, but meh, the G2 is already a great phone stock, and I can't imagine the next android having anything so game changing that it would be desired immediately anyway.

Ebay best offer that was accepted.. He had $560 on it and accepted my offer. Surprised me. He's only 500 miles away too.

I technically don't have it yet but it's unlocked and advertised/pictured as new. Hopefully by Friday

Her and I get ours tomorrow from Amazon, I can't wait. I've already sold my old phones $100 a piece and that's what the new ones were so I'm happy.
Seems like the best phone right now unless you hate the back buttons or desire other features from other vendors.

You got a great price. For the price you paid, I would've picked G2 over Nexus5 as well. You can update the software but you can't replace the superior battery and camera of G2.

Almost forgot - On screen buttons.

I actually prefer on screen buttons. Also, having the return button on the bottom left rather than bottom right (AKA Samsung) is awesome for me, I use my phone primarily in my left hand and like it there better.

In Canada where I am, the 16GB Model will be 349.99 + 16.99 Shipping + 13% Tax based on the Nexus 4 pre-price drop figures.. The 32GB Model will probably be $399 + 16.99 Shipping + 13% Tax.

I can't believe we can already find some LG G2's nearing $400 if you look hard for one. Most of them on the North American market are 32GB Models too.

With the 2.26Ghz quad core snapdragon 800 it's buttery smooth as it is, honestly android 4.2 wasn't bad when it came out and it isn't bad now, if you're the type who needs the latest and greatest android then obviously a nexus device would suit you better, but for the majority of people who want a powerful phone that works well the G2 is perfectly fine. Besides the larger screen and battery over the N5 is a pretty big deal hardware wise, LG G2 might get 4.4 eventually. But the N5 won't be getting a larger screen or bigger battery anytime soon.

It has nothing to do with smoothness. Any high-end 2013 phone will be smooth. An HTC One which came out in March, with a Snapdragon 600, is still extremely smooth (and it just got updated to 4.3 as well).

It's more an issue with the manufacturer's "skin", and carrier add-ons. For example, on a GS4 GPE, there are 8 quick-setting toggles. On a GS4 with TouchWiz, there are 18 toggles.

Google's development pace is very fast. 4.3 brought TRIM support, and 4.4 is supposed to be a pretty major update. Some manufacturers are better than others about updates; HTC only took 2 months to update to 4.3 while Samsung will take 3 months. That doesn't sound like a lot, but it is a lot when new flagship devices are coming out every 6-8 months, and new revisions of Android are out every 3-4 months.

Personally I think the average user will find more benefit from the larger battery and OIS than android updates at this juncture.

The Nexxus 5 won't be available for Verizon (so I've read) so the best option for me was the G2 over the Motorola phones. I honestly don't think android 4.3 or 4.4 are must haves especially 4.3, but it would be nice. LG's "features" aren't obviously the most desirable nor is the memory they take up on the phone a good thing, but at least they can be turned off.

Plenty of storage space left available to me, but I don't put my entire music collection on my phone or pictures etc. I'd rather take all the pluses and live with the minuses versus having a phone with lower hardware specs, and anything can be rooted eventually to remove most of the annoyances.

I picked mine up two days ago. I was due for a phone upgrade and got the G2 for $150. Already rooted and got rid of all of the bloatware. Running Nova Launcher and removed the navigation bar. All is good. Battery, screen, speed much better than my old Nexus 4.

BTW, anyone looking for a used Nexus 4?

I had both the Optimus G and now the G2 on AT&T. While I rooted and played with ROMS on the Optimus G, I ended up back to stock, simply because it wasn't that bad and everything in the phone just worked better (signal, camera, battery life, etc) under stock ROM. Sure it wasn't the absolute latest or slimmest android ROM version, but lately, all the new versions don't seem different enough for me to even care as long as the core thing I care about work fine. Hopefully KitKat will show some changes that make it actually different and interesting again.

With my new G2, I did root, but simply so I could freeze some of the AT&T bloat, but the actual stock ROM again is pretty nice, so I don't have any urging to play with other 3rd party ROMS. Is the stock ROM perfect? No, but it's just as im-perfect as most others are in the long run and is acceptable in daily usage. Plus I don't have to be worried about what version of the radio or other driver issues that playing with ROM's had me fretting over. While playing with ROM's can be fun for a while with all the different options and doohickeys, eventually I just want my shit to work and be acceptable in daily usage. This G2's stock ROM seems quite good in that regard.

This phone has awesome battery life for the screen size and power. Yes the back middle buttons throw me off once in a while, but not enough to make me disregard the phone's other strengths.

Its no where near apple vs orange.
Its getting to the point where newer versions of Android bring very little to the table.
Once it got to 4.2 I couldn't even tell you 1 thing 4.3 updated.
But we're talking about bigger screen, better camera, better battery life. All those are important features to have.
Hell, I would take just one of those over quicker updates.
The biggest advantage was the pricing but it seems some of you guys are able to find a G2 for cheap.
