LG dvd player misregonized by windows as a SCSI

My LG dvd rom/cd writer the GCC - 4521B, is being recognized as a XA7427J VCM630G cdRom Device, I used the firewire updates from the LG website but it did nothing, my device manager/hardware installer in windows has always been iffy, without drivers, for example, when i use 2 monitors it recognizes 3 more default monitors..

anyone know why something like this would happen?

You might want to ran malware or virus scan on your system first. Better yet need to do some registry cleaning.

Seeing the drive as a SCSI device can mean it's on a SATA connector as mentioned above (there are IDE to SATA converters)

Also it could mean you have it plugged into a PCI expansion card like the Promise IDE cards - they will also show up as SCSI usually.
