LG Dare on Verizon vs Centro on SERO

I'd like to get a phone/smartphone to browse the internets with, in addition to standard stuff.

I'm currently on Verizon with a family plan, but I've been contemplating a SERO plan at $30/month for a while. The 500 minutes would be more than enough for me, and I'm mainly interested in the data and unlimited texting. I like the Centro enough, so I would be happy with that. I did order tonight, so I'm not in peril of missing out before cheap SERO plans disappear.

But I just noticed that the Dare came out, and I could get unlimited data with that for only an additional $15 a month. I'm really intrigued by it, although I haven't seen it in person yet. What kind of advantages/disadvantages does it have over the Centro? What do you guys think would be the best value overall? Any other comments?

Centro is a smart phone rather than the Dare which is a multimedia phone. Be advised that one of my co-workers has gone through three Centro's in less than 30 days. The most recent the phone just quit working.

I have been using my Dare for a week now and every day it impresses me more. The touch screen is not quite up to iphone standards but very very good and it lacks the ability to add some features of a smartphone. In my case I had decided to try the iPhone until the Dare was released, but I have been with Verizon (GTE Mobile net) since around 1985 and there are too many times that my Verizon service would work when friends with AT&T or Sprint were dropping calls or getting no service that kept me from making the plunge. To be fair there are a couple black holes in my area for Verizon but overall, for me at this point in time, the superior network still trumped the added features of the iPhone . I suggest trying out the Dare at a local store and if you decide to get one you have 30 days to return it before you are subject to the EFT.

So what would be considered the main differences between a smart phone and a multimedia phone? Is it true that one would be limited to whatever Verizon makes for the Dare, since it can't really add third party BREW apps? Will things like Google Maps not work with it?

Typically a PDA will have more robust productivity features like Office Mobile, Outlook sync, more advanced email, calendar and text options.

I spent some time browsing on the Dare yesterday, and I can't say I'm a huge fan. The touchscreen, while seemingly better than the Glyde, just isn't precise enough, or sometimes just doesn't register stuff. I'm going to give the Centro some time; I think I'll like it just fine.

i've had the centro since febuary. i'm on my 4th one. the first two would just loop the hotsync over and over out of nowhere. hard resets didn't fix it either. the 3rd one my palm and navi keys went out on me. the 4th one seems to be fine but i just ordered an i phone to see if i like it better.

i've had a treo since 05. love them.
