Hey Guys,
My DVDROM died last night and since I actually have a DVD Player in my home entertainment center I'm just going to put in a CDROM drive for the time being. (Since companies are still resisting sending their software out on DVD Media).

Anyway I'm looking for people thoughts/feelings/comments on the LG 52x CDROM.

I own this drive and it works pretty well...........But I'm not very happy with it coz. it cannot read subchannel data.......I'm the kind of guy who first makes backups and hides the originals in the attic..........;)........the drive is extremely quiet

P.S> I started making backups ever since I scratched my Commandos : BEL copy :(

Ummm wouldn't it be more like your CDR can't burn subchannel data. If the drive couldn't read it then there'd be no point in having it there and somethings would fail to function. Unless I just conpletely missed something.

Any idea what the DAE performance is like?

I have the LG 52X in my secondary PC with a 12X LG DVD ROM.

I love these drives!

I always recommend LG to friends, I have a 16X burner at work too!!

all drives work flawlessly! very good value!

I like LG drives. Very quiet and reliable. This is the brand Dell uses in their PC's.

I have the LG 52X CDROM in my system and I've been pretty happy with it. It's fairly quiet, very reliable, and performs decently.
And as a minor bonus the spinup/spindown time is very quick on this drive.
