Hey guys.

Few months ago. I successfully installed CM 10.2 on my LG 4x HD. Today, my phone found an update to CM 11.2 Nightly. Of course, I didn't know that you can't just "update" your phone to CM 11.2. So, I clicked to update it. Moments later I got a message: "Installation aborted (Status 7)", then it said: "Root access possibly lost. FIX?", I chose yes. Few seconds later my phone rebooted, but now it's stuck on "LG loading screen". It doesn't even get to CM loading screen (the blue spinning circle). it just loads to LG screen, then it reboots, etc etc. I really dont want to hard brick my phone, so your help would be greatly appreciated.

it should be noted that I'm not very experienced in this sort of "troubleshooting", so step by step guide would be great.

cheers

I don't have a solution for you, just a question. What do you mean you can't just update to CM 11.2? My wife donated her old Samsung Galaxy Relay to me for experimentation when I got her a new Moto X and I installed CM 10.2 on it. The CM Updater shows 11.2 is waiting for me to install. I take it now that this is a bad idea?

This screwed up my phone too, "fixing" that messes everything up. I just flashed a new rom and that's it, but i had everything backed up, hopefully you do too.

What if you cleared all your caches in recovery mode? Worth a shot, since you'll most likely be reflashing from scratch anyways.

CM 10.2 is based on 4.2 android (jellybean), while CM 11.2 is based on 4.4 android (kitkat). You cant simply update your CM from 10.2 to 11.2. You must, delete cache, etc etc. and flash your CM 11.2 on your phone.

I solved my problem:
For quite a while I wanted my LG stock rom back, but I didn't know how to get one. When the described problem occured, I made a restore and noticed I had a backup of my LG stock rom, so I basically restored that one. Now, my phone is back to original state: unrooted and with original ROM.
