I?ve had this drive since February and last week I had a problem where it refused to read any cd's, DVDs... It didn?t even start spinning the disk. I took disconnected my cdrw drive on the same cable and after a reboot, it worked fine. I updated the firmware just in case. Two days ago I got the same damn problem and so far I haven?t been able to read any disks I throw at it.

Are there any known issues with this drive or any other trouble shooting tips I should try before resorting to RMA this drive?

It?s still under warranty (1 year manuf. warrantee). How good is LG's RMA service?

Thanks for any help. :)

LG RMA service is so so.
So is the 4081B. Either people loved it or hated it.
The newer 4120B is excellent.

Haven't done anything recently with them but they did have
the same policy as many HD MFG's.

You obtain RMA, you either send drive back and wait, or you
can give credit card info and have them send to a replacement to you.
(you only get billed if you do not return defective unit)

Last time I sent drive back (CDRW) it was a 2 week turn around.

Thanks for that info. After looking around the net, I think I'll avoid LG DVDRW drives from now on.
