at that size a bit of curve at the distances you will be sitting at a desk is probably helpful. it isnt meant to be a tv.

i want the vertical of a 40" 4k, but this is tempting.

The bigger issue right now is what card could run it very well?

Really the only thing going for amd that would have any kind of power would be rx 480 in cf but again that's relying on cf and is generally a mistake and even then it will be rough in some games.

But yea that's going to be too huge at 38 inch for most.

Oh LA LA!

I have RX 480 CF in my 6700k rig!

Now how do I justify this to my wife? A $2,000 Talbot's Gift Card?

Shucks I think she already spent that much on herself there for Christmas.

Get the 32 inch qnix. It's great for 4k I love it

I have the 34" model and while I haven't seen the 38" in person yet, I think it's the ideal size for a UWS if you have the desk space. This should give you more vertical real estate that I find a little lacking in the 34. At these widths you'll want a slight curve to give a wrap around effect and after using it for a bit you won't even notice the curve any more.

I have a 390x and it's giving me very playable framerates on high settings with a few settings turned down.

Monitor looks fantastic, but 52-75hz FreeSync isn't good enough on the low end. With that resolution you want it to be able to drop down to 30hz with LFRC.
Agreed. I dont understand why LG keeps doing this. It's really dumb to have such high floors on the FreeSync range. Especially on something with this high of resolution where it would be quite difficult to maintain a fps constantly above 52. If I spend $1500 on a consumer monitor I expect no compromises of any kind. Not some dumpy crap FS range.

Freesync ranges typically suck because they are free. If you want something to be good, you have to pay for it. Hate to say that but in this case its true. That's why Gsync has a high premium. It always has a full range all the way from below 30 with some magic they do right through the full refresh rate.

Nixeus, Asus and AOC have models with nice big ranges. It's just LG. They cant seem to figure it out. The worst part is that you can "overclock" the FS range down to ~30 on a bunch of LG models, so its totally possible, they just dont do it

It's a quoted fs range. You can almost always extend it far below that range.

Monitors used to be convex, then flat, now concave. Its like they are breathing in and out over time.

I *almost* bought this, but decided on the 34" version. 38" looks gorg. The card to run with this atm is the Fury X. My 34" with my Fury (non X) runs like butter.

I will never buy a flat monitor ever again and love my 34" curve.

I said the same thing when I got my first WS monitor, Dell 2005FPW. Have not gotten anything but a WS since.

I feel the same way about curved now, even for TV's. 65" LG curved OLED tv for main viewing, 55" Samsung curved tv for alternate viewing. 34" curved Asus monitor for pc.

This LG looks nice, just not good enough specs for me. And I haven't had my 34" long enough.

Will wait for the Korean knock off and buy it. Now that I have my QNIX and love it, it's only a matter of time til the koreans make this monitor, or make one even better.

For me when working with multiple documents its so much easier to read the text when the screen comes back towards you at the edges not to mention being able to get 3 side by side for comparison. Large spreadsheets are easier to work with when you can see your data from one side to the other without having to scroll things around to see it. Next time I want more height to compliment more width so I can see even more stuff.
