Lexx

Kadarin

Lifer
I just finished watching this on Scifi Channel, and I must say this is without a doubt the strangest show I think I've ever watched, bar none. I've tried to watch it before, but never got into it, because parts of it are very, very stupid. On the other hand, recently they got into the whole Fire/Water twin planet thing, and I've gotten hooked. Anyone else watch this?

Seen it a few times... can't bare to make it a regular thing but when there's nothing else on....

The episode where they're in some city where all the people do nothing but have sex was quite "interesting". Too bad it wasn't on HBO that night.... all the good parts where blurred.

Isn't Lexx only about sex?

And that would be bad exactly how?

In actuality, sex has a very strong undertone throughout the series, but there are many other things going on. Would you want your 8 year old child to watch the show? Probably not.. but it's good fun for adults (and most teenagers).

Personally, I just think it's one of the greatest shows ever. It's very clever and full of dichotomies. In the first movie Stanley Tweedle manages to steal away on the Lexx with a vampire and a beautiful creature (ZEV) who has the nasty predisposition to become totally homicidal if sexually aroused. So the coments about it being about sex are not quite right. It's more about sexual tension. There's Stanley, the poster boy for all the nerds of the world, lost in space with a sexless vampire and beautiful woman who he can absolutley not ever get arouse. She'd tear him to pieces. Their misadventures are endless. Unfortunately, I'm the only person who ever seems to say good things about this epic. So maybe I'm a little off.

Show is so screwed I once watched about 3 minutes of it and my head nearly fell off, so I've never watched it since.

Vampire? Are you referring to Kai?
I though he was some dead assassin...

But yeah, Zev is a hotty. I don't know why they keep changing her, I think I've seen 3 different Zev's

Yes, the original 4 movies ("I worship his shadow" etc.) were much much better than the seasons 2 - 4 shown on scifi.

It's set in a multi-system totalitarian empire, "1984" taken to absurd extremes, which was formed in the aftermath of an insterstellar war against insect races. Human technology is now a weird hybrid of electronics and living insect biomachines.

Unfortunately, the DVD rights are in limbo in the US, so you can't rent or buy them here (Canadian DVD shops have them though).

its stupid euro-trash. Its nothing but a soft porn thats censored heavlily, the stories are boring and the actors are terrible, the special effects are laughable. the only thing worth watching is that hot POA Zed.

OMG :Q so they ship to American addresses? I wonder how much that will end up costing with it needing to be switched to american dollars 😕

There's a hot POA in the show :Q and to think i only liked it due to the dead assassin Kai :Q 😀

the series is o.k.
you have to watch the originals though, way better than lexx.
it was called " Tales of a parallel universe"
was much better, way higher production values too...

I tried watching some of the epsidoes but never really drew me in. However this Fire/Water planet thread had me hooked. I recommend watching only this run to all those who don't like it or feel it is stupid. Yeah the physics are way off, but then I realized that it wasn't about that at all (at least for this run). It really was about good and evil and much more philosophical examinations of who we are.

I was hooked until I saw the season (and final one at that) after the fire/water storyline. I think either they shot their creative wad on the previous year or they just ran out of gas. And even backtracking and watching the previous seasons I'm at a loss of explaining how bad it was. I can argue that Lexx was some of the finest sci-fi-fantasy shows ever made, but only for that season.

Now, I'm going through my backlog of Farscape shows my freinds have lent me. I'm just not appreciating it like my friends are. I look at some of the characters and cannot help but think that these are really ugly muppets. Although that girl with the blue-gey skin is pretty hot.

Lexx is probably the best TV show ever made, IMO. It's the modern version of Waiting for Godot.

For example; Stanley is Greed, Zev is Lust, Kai is Safety. All the characters they meet also fill a role of some sort. To expand on this as an audience member one can always change the motivations of the characters. For example change Kai to Logic and rewatch the scene.

Lexx is truely the most active, involved TV watching a viewer can have today. 🙂

Sounds like you've only seen seasons 2-4 not the original season 1 (released as 4 movies). And the Zev in season 1 is even hotter. (Eva Haberman, sorry no pics, google them yourself.)

Wow. I respect your opinion as much as anyone else's but you're reachin'. I do admit that I saw one episode that was very creative and funny. The episode where the one female character that likes "fresh meat" ends up conversing with the "elder minds" represented physically by brains on a platter lined up in a hall. She ends up eating one of the brains (as it was vehemently protesting) and if I remember correctly she states that it tasted "too salty."

Now, that was funny.

Lexx is probably the most bizarre show I've ever seen on TV. Don't look for any "true" science (a la Star Trek) or any heavy plotline (a la Babylon 5). Instead, consider it more a work of creativity.

C'mon, how many times have you seen a show with a Giant Bug as a spaceship with the intelligence of a dog? BTW, the Lexx itself is the best looking spaceship EVAH!

Yeah, it's heavy on sexual situations, sexual innuendoes, and well, trying to get sex, but the greatest irony is that Stanley H. Tweedle, despite trying every episode, almost never ever ever gets any! (We won't discuss the episode about the alien probe carrots...)

This series is fun and funny. Unlike Star Trek and others, it refuses to take itself too seriously. Consider two of the Lexx Rules:
1. All humanoids will speak English.
2. Stanley Tweedle will never lose his hat.

And Eva Haberman is the hottest Zev/Xev.
