cool. I wonder what happens if there was a person/object that would suddenly get in the way?

The Lexus moves them out of the way.

roflmao. the comment in itself isn't that funny, but I have no idea why I initially laughed so hard at your comment 😛.

anyways, that car looks uber pimp. I saw another vid on youtube w/ a BMW that did it. Does BMW have a production car that selfparks as well?

no im pretty sure they dont, must've been a project of some sort.

The LS460/600h would be my car of choice if i had an arseload of cash to blow. 0-60 faster than a G35 and all the crazy luxury items to boot. Unlike an Audi, i would be able to spend more time driving it than waiting in the service bay of ym closest dealer.

there have been self-parking systems in Japan already.

It's not as hard a task of engineering as making it cost worthy.

They had auto up windows for a long time prior to the american market getting them as well.

When my girlfriend saw the commercial she got really confused and didnt believe the car parked itself.

I hope they have this car at the Taste of Lexus event next weekend. I'll try to drive it but I'm more interested in the IS350. 🙂

Would anyone actually use this? For the time that it looks like it takes I would have been able to park the car and been out of site.

Just like first-gen ABS, this is another case of a technology which is great for mediocre drivers, but doesn't do nearly as well as a skilled driver would without the assist.

It looks like a "cool" feature and all... but I'd rather not drive such an expensive car in a place where you have to parallel park. 😉 That is if the rest of the US is like NYC where people play bumper cars trying to wedge their car into a spot. If I had a nice car and had to drive in a city regularly, I'd buy a beater.

Ppl that have to parallel park all the time have it mastered.

I am thinking this is catering to those that drive off the beaten path sometimes.

I live in a city and rarely have to parallel park (west palm beach), but I occasionally do.

It's easy for me, but if I were 20-30 years older; I may want it just handled for me.

One thing I hate about parallel parking areas are people that park by 'feel'. To me that's a hit and run.

The auto park feature works well. As far as the LS460 my driving impressions were mixed. Its not as good a car as the MB S550. Which is why I'm amazed Lexus event planners would put it head-to-head at taste of lexus. Last year they did the same with the IS against the 3 series and the general view was that the 3 series was the better car.

Backfiring marketing if you ask me.

I remember reading that the LS line has been outselling BMW and MB in their respected class for 2 or 3 years straight now.

I do believe BMW has the upper hand between the 3 series and the IS from Lexus.
