I have to say I don't see many 8 year old Fords on the streets these days.

i second that. saw a 98 Caddy in the shop for a engine change....after 85k.

not only the quality, the parts, the way the car is designed, is something i love. i dont like cheap plastic dashes and sagging headliners, just not my thing. I hate their audio systems, since they all suck. Even factory units in all japanese cars are made majority by panasonic/pioneer and alpine. Ford engines ? they just LOOK ugly. and are hard to work on.

my buddy was hardcore ford, but when he got his civic, he found out how much better japanese cars are compared to the fords.

And you know the guy with the old caddy actually took care of that vehicle?
Thought not. . .

Have you driven any of the new batch of fords released in the last 2-3 years?

My cobalt had a 300 watt pioneer system, my dads tahoe has a bose system, my friends fusion has a sony system

my roomates accord has a buzzy system that bottoms out if you crank the volume past half way

you really should just give whatever your Japanese preconceived notions a blowjob and be done with it. I dont particularly even like American cars and you still sound like a troll

i have been on this forum for a while my friend, i think you are the troll. I am just asking on what people think, would the IS be a better car than my accord, reliability, cost etc. I never asked anyone to suggest other cars. I go to school, and want a reliable car that won't have issues with it. The IS is made in japan, unlike alot of toyotas now adays.

The toyotas built in the US are horrible, i agree on that note. The reliability has gone down, and so have the materials and workmanship. Honda on that note has been consistent with quality, and so has nissan.

i'm fairly sure that bose and sony audio systems are NOTHING to brag about.

my accord's speakers don't distort until around 90% of max volume.

I see plenty of them. And older too.

I see several 80s Fords, GMs, some Chryslers (not as many though), a few toyotas and hondas but not near as many as the Fords and GMs. Everything under the sun for the 90s about equally (and almost every 90's civic guaranteed to be a pile of riced out crap lol).

Accord speakers are horrible...

<-- Drives an Accord

Bose sucks in home, but is better than OEM in a car for most..

I had Bose that came with my I30.... easily murders my Accord speakers

I'll admit im biased against toyota because everything they seem to make nowadays seems to be overstyled to hell and back. I cant argue with Infiniti and Honda quality when they are built in Japan. Both our beater I30 and now gone Integra and Accord both lasted forever with little to no heavy maintenance done to them in over 150K+ miles.

Take my cobalt on the other hand which was in the shop more in 3 years than the Accord, Integra and I30 combined in their entire lifetimes. I still think honda stereos are garbage though, the only one that was passable was the Bose one in the I30 which was actually quite nice for only 6 speakers.

Because im sure the 500000000000000 watt sound system with 6 12" subs and component speakers that are worth more than your car are a great example.

They arent Logic7/Mark Levinson/B&O good, but their car systems are pretty decent for what they are. I wouldn't mind it so much if my car had it.

I know, but I just wanted to give you some idea of the kinds of issues you might be facing after having driven 2 Lexus cars, each around 8-10 years old. Granted the IS is not and ES and has an inline 6 instead of a V6, but even a dependable lexus has its issues after a number of years.

Both my 92 ES and 01 ES have been solid cars until around 90-100K. The engines were never a problem, but just little things started needing replacing. Normal wear and tear, but it adds up

i had an 01 is300, no issues whatsoever up until i sold her last year outside of normal maintenance.
best car i've ever owned. rock solid.

only reason i sold her was because i needed an SUV since i have dogs now and didn't want to ruin the
interior of the is300 haha :)

i wouldn't hesitate to buy another one, in fact if i could find a clean 05 right now i'd seriously think about
getting it.

I was referring to the 7G which LOUISSS drives, and I also drive the same model.

Simply put: Bose will be better than a basic OEM speaker setup in most cars. If Bose had aftermarket speakers, I would not reccomend them. But as they come with some cars they sound good.

In the home, bose is horrid with respect to freq. responce and value for money.

I had Bose in my 1996 I30t and 2000 I30 (with subwoofer and without). Both of these sound much better than my Accord does.

If you are happy with your current 1993 Accord sound, you won't be dissapointed with the 8G sound, and will be pleased with Bose if its in that IS.
