Lexus IS Coupe

With all of Acura's terribad styling miscues of late, is Lexus catching the bug? I saw my 2nd-ever IS Coupe today, and it looks ghastly. The lines are all wrong, and it just looks like a bad hack job all the way. The BMW and Audi coupes are gorgeous, even the Infiniti G coupe looks fantastic, but the IS just looks like garbage. Am I alone in this? The old oddball IS 300 5-door looked better than this travesty.

It's sad because I really like the IS350, it's a very solid piece of work. The IS-F is both overwrought and underwheming, and the 250 is just obscenely underpowered for the $ (still a nice enough car to ride around in, but for the $ I'd rather have a loaded V6 Malibu/Accord/Maxima/etc).

I'm not crazy about it...Definitely not a car I'd ever buy. And I currently own a Lexus IS250.

I agree with you on the IS-F too. It is ungainly and ugly...it's like they took the very decent looking IS and enlarged it in all the wrong places.

I've never seen one, but I do think out of Lexus/Infiniti/Acura, Acura is by far the ugliest right now... Which is odd, usually Toyota takes the cake. (Think SC430) worst predecessor ever (SC400)

Agreed - the IS Coupe is an abomination, especially in lighter colors that make the seams in the convertible top more evident. Really a surprisingly ungainly, ugly car considering that it's based on a fairly handsome small sedan. I don't generally like the results when carmakers coupe-ify sedans, but normally the results are just dull (like the A4/S4 coupe), not hideous. That being said, if it were an Acura it would instantly be their prettiest model.

All auto makers are guilty of producing rediculous and boring affordable "sporty"cars since the early 90's.

If you want a decent new car thats not over $40G's you have your pick of a... mazda 3, uhhh RSx oh no they stopped making that... uhh s2000... nope thats gone too, G35 too heavy, too lame, ... mustang? camaro? no way I'm not some pointless D-bag.

I think the IS could have been a great car if toyota had shrunk its backside and made it a light weight fun car.

I heard they are considering making an IS coupe but what you save was the convertible, which because they need room to fit the hardtop in, makes it look a little awkward when the top is up.
