I'd have to smoke 23,000 joints to buy a lexus. 😀

Oh I don't know. When you look past the quality, reliability, performance and service, what do they really have to offer?
They're utterly common when it comes to looks.

An overpriced Toyota that is boring. 🙂

I think more of the middle class purchases the Lexus brand because they want a Luxury brand that they believe is reliable. The richest people don't purchase them as much as they do the other Brands though because the others are established luxury Brands.
More middle class people = more sales for them. They have done very well though.

does it really matter who buys them?

They are awesome cars..and thats all that matters.

I love Lexus...I think of them as the Japanese Mercedes, except they have high quality.

I hope Infiniti turns out to be the Japanese BMW, except without the ugly designs. A

And Acura can be in the middle, kinda like Audi. High quality interiors, and such.

What do you consider a good-looking $40,000 - $50,000 luxury car?

Hmm. To me they seem stodgy and utterly boring to look at and drive. I've driven a ~'96 LS400. Put me to sleep. It was comfortable tho, that I can't deny.

u drove an 8 year old car?

LOL, that's like me driving an 8-year old Acura RL and saying that Acuras are crap cars 😉

We have a 2004 ES 330 and it's pretty nice. We wanted a japanese car because they'll last long, it's similar in safety to a volvo s80 which we were also considering, had a nice ride, the whole family liked it.

Yes, I love driving non-descript blobs.

True that it is a toyota... and if you cannot make the distinction/separation in your own mind. then i can see how you could say it's overpriced.

Owning a gs4 since 1998, i have been thrilled with it..
What sold me was the seating position, high arm rest, great stereo, and really roomy back seat. The BMW 540i wasn't as comfy. The BMW is a true enthusiast's machine... most definitely.. but the Lexus' smooth and hushed power delivery, quietness of the interior, manual shifting, and ability to turn off the Vehicle Skid Control sold me on it (that, and the quicker 0-60 times).. I have gone through 4 sets of tires (never driven on snow) and have lifted the rear wheel off the ground when cornering sometimes... lol.. i'm crazy

I used to have a GS too. Now that I'm driving an Acura, I really miss that car. The car was so quiet and everything about it exuded refinement. When you tap the accelerator, it felt like you are pushing a finely milled gear instead of a springy pedal. It had just the right feel. For those guys who bash Lexus, you probably have never driven one or one long enough to appreciate all the thought that went into making the car.

I do remember when Lexus first came out with their cars, they were bargains compared to the other luxury cars. Now they're not that cheap though. I'd say they are less than 10% cheaper than BMWs and Audis.

Lexus are luxury cars... why is everyone complaining about fun? If you want fun, go drive a manual sports sedan. Thats like me saying sports sedans suck because they don't hold enough cargo.

i'd say auto union's turn around was more impressive than lexus' quick ride to the top. going from absolute trash that no one drove in 1994 to a geniune challenger in the luruxry market in 1998 was incredible.

They are much more cheaper than 10% with comparable options.

With even a single package, to a BMW or an AUDI they add like 3-4k easy.
