OfficeMax (and OfficeDepot) lowered their price on the Lexmark Z52 to $139.99 whereas many other merchants sell it for $169 (buy.com, staples...). Apply one of the many $25 off coupons from another site and get free shipping to boot.

Net cost is $114.99 + tax. No rebates, no pricematch BS to deal with.

You could of course pricematch at staples (if you swing that way)...

Here's ZDbop's review

While this is merely a 'decent' deal, it is one worth noting.

or try staples $139 (B&M only, some stores)- use 30 off 100 = $109

Thanks for da post. I had just ordered myself a Z52 from officemax for $124.19!! yahooooooo!! I was about to order from staples instead(they offer a $30 coupon vs. officmax's $25), but they haven't reduce their price yet and i'm too impatient to wait for them.

LOL, I was just looking all over the place comparing prices for this particular printer exactly when you posted. Good price. Thanks. BTW, Buy.com also has it for $139.00 now, as does Lexmark.com.

Has anyone compared the Z52 to the Epson Photo 870? I know the Lexmark supposedly eats a lot of ink, but that doesn't matter to me...print quality and paper jams are my primary concerns, so 2 questions:

1. Does the Lexmark Z52 exhibit any banding? (I would think the Epson does not).

2. Does the Epson 870 jam a lot? (I'm told Epsons don't have a straight paper path)

I have HP930c and Z51(the precursor to Z52).

Both are excellent printers....personally the color is more vibrant and small black detail is clearer on the Z51.

Can not miss with either printer.

The lexmark is easier to refill the cartridges than the HP iMHO.

Great printer but Lexmark inkjet cartridges are amongst the most pricey. However if your printing volume is very low, it probable doesn't matter a whole lot.

I haven't had any problems with the Lexmark that are really that bad. It has solid printing. I had some horizontal lines at 2400x1200 but when I went down to 1200x1200 it was fine. I just recently bought refills from www.ink-jet.com and it works well. I had a delayed problem with the color refill as it didn't work for a couple days but after shaking the cartridge a bit and sucking some ink out using the tools provided by ink-jet.com it worked.

Definitely a great printer.
Very fast. Some printers take a while to initialize but this one is quick.
Some issues with usb connectivity but there are workarounds. Inkjet refillable, although there are quirks you have to keep in mind with Lexmark cartridges or you will lose them.
Excellent photos but not comparable to the Epson 870 for the person asking above/below.
If you want incredible photos go with the Epson 870, 875, and 1270. (Not refillable because of small chip embedded in the cartridge- although there is supposed to be a "chip re-programmer you can buy in the UK that I haven't tried yet.
For reference I have the following printers: Z31,Z51,z52 the three Epsons mentioned above and the HP930c.

A great forum for digital photography and printing is www.dpreview.com. They have a subforum for printing which will help.

I just got the z52 from my local b&M staples this Monday during Prez day for like $109 plux tax. The printer is decent and its pretty fast. I had set my mind on a photo printer, by looking at the box it say 2400x1200 dpi. I figure it was better than the other photo printers like photosmart or epson 870. I was wrong. The photo quality sux. When I print in maximum resolution (2400x1200) I see lines across the picture and it dumps too much inch on the paper. As for the USB connection, I didn't have any problem with it. I am using win2kPro. Overall this is a good printer, but if you are looking for photo quality finish, stick with the epson 870 or HP photosmart.

I've got the Z51 which this unit replaced and absolutely love it. My ink use has been better than the HP and Canons which I used to have. Definitely feel that it's photo quality- haven't even bothered to use my Photo ink cartridge! HKSturboKID, sorry you're having problems, check you driver setup and cartridge alignment... I've gotten one of these for all my brothers and sisters, they all get great results. I used to sell printers 5 or 6 years ago, the Lexmarks of that era were crap, but these new ones are my #1 choice.

Fargus,
I'm using the driver that came with the printer. Didn't see any update on their website. I was on the phone w/ Lexmark Customer Service and the CSR tell me to keep printing test pages and on the color lines, I keep seeing white lines across it. One thing for sure is this printer prints text real fast. Before I look up to my printer <on top of the hutch> the page is finish printing already. As for photo quality, I have printed samples from both the HP photosmart series and the Epson 870 on Photo Paper and compare it to the Lexmark z52 and the Z52 is not as good quality as the Epson and HP. In any case, if anyone need ink for the Z52, there are 2 place that sell them pretty cheap.

i've had a Z52 for several months. it's fast and the output looks great. drawbacks are: it's noisy & ink cartridges are pricey.
