Lexar's new JumpDrive Mercury with an onboard electronic paper storage level meter

i think its a good idea. always nice to know how full your drive is without havign to plug it in and look.

Well it doesn't make it any more cumbersome, so yeah, sounds like a good idea. If you have a few drives, it'll be great to be able to check the available storage without needing a computer.

My question is how much more expensive will it make the drive 😀

I'm sure you'll see everyone and their grandma jumping on this tech in a few months

I don't see the point since its purpose is to let you transport files, which would require you to stick it into a computer. At which point you will know how much space is left. Why would you need to know the space left at any other times is beyond me.

I think they only way it is useful is if one has a number of them as mentioned in a post above.

i only have one jump drive...and this would be useful for me

i always forget how much stuff is on mine, and i never remember to check before i go out i just pick it up n go...which is why ive been caught short many a time not having enough room to fit what i want on

so being able to see at a glance how much space is left would benefit me
