Well, I just got my Lexar 512mb jumpdrive for $50AR (yeeehaaaw.....been wanting one forever) and it's the "secure" version which has this ability to allocate space to be password protected. Every time itp plugged in it starts up a little software program built on the jumpdrive.

I know that's "nifty" & all, but I don't know that I'm gonna put anything so secretive on it & was wondering if anybody else had experience with it?? Loved it?? Hated it?? Can it be deleted permanently from the jumpdrive?? (Obviously, I could try to, but if it's a just a too-cool feature, then I wouldn't want to do that & not be able to get it back, right??) LOL!!

TIA

Yes - you can reformat it it and lose that feature. But - it's your choice. It all depends on the use you put it to. As for me - I would have no use for such security.

I left the special security feature on my Jumpdrive but never use it. For some reason I think you can reinstall the application after reformatting the drive, but I don't remember where I might have read that.

It is a nifty feature, but there are probably third-party app's that would serve a similar purpose. (Right?) Personally I wouldn't worry so much about erasing it if you absolutely need all the space on the drive.

Thanks very much guys!! Ya, I was wondering if I just hadn't ***thought*** of something that would be just too good a reason to dump it, but I just don't have anything that private & if I do I suppose it's in my wallet or stuck in my brain.....LOL!!!

Before I could think too much about it, my initial thoughts were just that it is MUCH more convenient to be able to just plug & play and drag & drop w/o having to mess with a little security thingy. Seems there's not much else reason to think otherwise. Also, I guess I can drag & drop that stuff into a folder in my main desktop so if I ever REALLY wanted it, I might be able to drag it back on the jumpdrive!?!

Thanks again gang!!!!!!!
