I thought that Lexar was owned by Crucial / Micron. Is this a Crucial / Micron -mfg SSD, or a 3rd-party that bought / licensed the Lexar name?

It would be interesting, if Crucial / Micron was using the Lexar brand-name for their extremely entry-level SSDs (as this appears to be).

Maybe the BX500 isn't selling as well as they would like? (That happens to be my go-to drive for budget builds.)

It seems that I am woefully out of date about this situation.

From your second link:
What remains to be seen is whether Longsys intends to use the Lexar brand to market SSDs in the U.S., or only hopes to make memory cards, flash drives and embedded storage under the trademark. If the company decides to expand usage of the brand to SSDs, then it will compete against Micron using the latter’s NAND in the U.S., which would be an interesting turn of events.
