Can you tell me if this is the older "JumpDrive Secure" USB 1.1 product, in which the body of the storage device is significantly wider than the USB connector itself, or the newer, slimmer USB 2.0 product? That would make the difference between mildly-warm and hot for me.
I currently already own the older "fat" USB 1.1 model of this device, and while it generally works well and hasn't given me any problems, the fact of the matter is that because it is wider than the USB connector itself, there are systems and situations in which it is actually unusable because of the physical form factor. Plus, I've seen the SanDisk USB 2.0 256MB "Cruiser" drive, for as low as $40, so for the same price/MB of flash storage, I could get one that is slimline and USB 2.0.
I learned the hard way, though, about the "fat" Lexars, when I tried to plug it into a Dell computer used for guest internet access at a hotel I stayed at. The way that the case was designed, the only two USB ports were on the back ATX I/O bracket, and because the PS/2 mouse+keyboard were plugged in, there was no way possible to plug in the Lexar flash drive.
I just thought of something, I guess I could buy a USB extension cable, that would probably work, but I hate carrying extra crap around.
There might be hope if my OM is substituting a MicroAdvantage drive, I think that those also have the slimline form-factor like the SanDisk drives do. The price is definately nice!
