Levels of banning?

I just saw someone get banned today.

What are the levels of banning that a moderator can do here?

Lock
Temporary (how long?)
Permaban (Is it really permaneant? or can you weasewl your way out of it)

Anything in between?


IS there a list of permaban things not to do?

Lock
--Thread lock doesn't necessarily mean someone was banned.

Temporary (how long?)
--I think I've seen around a week or so up to several weeks, not sure.

Permaban (Is it really permaneant? or can you weasewl your way out of it)
--There have been users permanently banned, if/when they came back it was not under the banned username.

Anything in between?
--?

--Just don't post anything you wouldn't want your mother to read.

It is hard to tell what will get you a permanate ban which may or may not be permanate.
We have a member that was on a temp ban and came back only to get a perminate ban, later he came back under the same user name and within 1 month he was a Elite member.

ban
permaban

lock is just the thread
ban can be anywhere from a few hours to a month, usially if they ban you for a month its a permaban

Similar thing happened with another member a long time ago. He was banned for continuously neffing solely for post count....a huge PITA.....kept in touch with people here....then somehow, managed to get reinstated.
When he came back, he immediately started posting for count...except instead of posting nonsense, he posted very short, useless phrases, under the guise of "helping out".
Like this: Say, in a thread where someone asks how to do something on the forums, he'd reply: "pm the mods". After someone had already said that. All the time.
Had 1000 posts in no time.
But for some reason, he was deemed to have "changed" and is now elite.
Now doesn't seem to do it as much, so maybe has grown up.
