"Letting a computer rest"

Member
I always hear someone say "My computer been on all day so I'm let it rest for a hour before I use it again"

I'm digress for a minute.

Now, that made sense back in the 1980's LOL, but now it 2006. Do computers today need to "rest"?

Personally I feel more comfortable leaving them on 24/7. Probably does more damage to turn it off and fire it back up again than just to leave it alone.

how are you defining a rest?

shutting it off? just let it idle?

LOL

what could rest possibly do for a computer? the only time a computer needs to "rest" is when it's overheating, and if that's the case you have bigger problems.
