Ok, I started listening to a lot of bands before they were famous. It doesn't affirm me any special rights and I wonder why people always think they deserve respect or something because they knew a band before they were big. No offense but this just drives me crazy.

Anyone who uses the "I'm more of a fan than you because I listened to ______ when he was still underground" is a moron - I just threw that out there to defuse all the dumbasses who would come in and say "OMG you just saw that Chappelle skit and warezed his albums".

Oh, and I never recall seeing anything in this thread about the bands having to be liked by everyone. :p

None of the newer bands excite me that much, with the exception of the Flaming Lips (who aren't new) and Sigur Ros. I heard some songs by The Postal Service that sound interesting but not mindblowing.

Slipknots new CD sounds promising
Franz Ferdinands new single is excellent
I'm also eagerly awaiting the release of Velvet Revolvers debut.

a few live tracks and remastered audio. A good live track from the BBC of third planet (my personal favorite song) but they bleep out the two swear words in the song!!! It totally ruins it

some great music mentioned in this thread!

of recent i've been listening to the coheed and cambria cd (who i wrote of for so long as just another crappy band on EVR, but i was so wrong).

I'm gonna have to disagree with the rerelease of the moon and antartica as modest mouse's best. I think their earlier full lengths (lonesome crowded west, building nothing.., and long drive) are all superior. I'd recommend staying away from Everywhere and His Nasty Parlour Tricks EP, their worst release imo. Sad Sappy Sucker is great but really raw and takes a bit to get use to.

the rerelease of Moon and Antartica includes a few extra radio session tracks.

Tad Morose. Great rock from Sweden or somewhere like that.

The new Slipknot sounds kinda whimpy. I think Stone Sour is rubbing off on them.
