OPEC doesn't set the price of oil, they set their rate of production lowering/raising supply, which in turn sets the price
Symantics.

As soon as a profitable region (argentina or anyplace else) starts massive production they envetually join OPEC too. They realise having a monopoly is a pretty sweet deal compared to having to compete with a competitor like OPEC ME countries who will lower the price and make all your efforts and expenditure for not. See what happened to texas/oklahoma twice in the last 25 years when we did'nt join. In houston, in the mid 80's 33% of homes stood vacant. We would never join such a corrupt terrorist organization.

Keep in mind too; these high margins is why they have the monies to fund lavish expenditures like TERRORISTS.

Using oil for fuel is such a waste of a resource that will be increasingly in demand for other products in the future. It's time to quit burning oil like it's everyones right to do so.

So what you are saying is OPEC sets oil prices.

So what should we be using for energy if not oil?

Sort of, they manipulate supply, which affects prices. There is another aspect of prices though, demand.

lol well i think youre not up for te game
if me refuse to sell oil to hte us you are in deep sheet because all your economy is based on oil
ur reserve is around 30 days no?
food reserve for the me country is much higher
and other country would be delighted to sell goods to the me against cheap oil
maybe it was for that reason that .... :)
but we already discussed that subject

The first thing they would do is raise prices beyond what we'd be willing to pay, not cut it off entirely. It won't even come to that. They can't agree amongst themselves, let alone the non-OPEC producers. I ain't the least bit worried.

They get to charge what the world is willing pay.
What part of free enterprise do you find offensive?
The price of oil is inelastic, meaining demand will stay the same regardless of price.
If you don't like it, don't use it it isn't a 'right'. I have no problem with OPEC coluding to affect price. ITs what good buisiness people do.
